President Murmu to attend Nalanda University convocation today

President Droupadi Murmu will grace Nalanda University’s second convocation in Rajgir, Bihar, as chief guest and Visitor. This marks her inaugural visit to the institution as President. She will address 617 graduates from 31 nations, confer degrees, and present gold medals. Awardees expressed pride and gratitude for their transformative experiences at Nalanda.

Patna: President Droupadi Murmu is arriving in Bihar on Tuesday to attend the second convocation ceremony of Nalanda University at its campus in Rajgir. Murmu, who is also the Visitor of the University, will be the chief guest at the convocation ceremony, an official said on Monday.President Murmu’s visit to Rajgir will mark her first visit to Nalanda University as President of India. During the ceremony, she will deliver the convocation address, confer degrees, and award gold medals to meritorious students, the official said.With preparations now in their final stages, the university campus stands ready to welcome 617 graduating students from 31 nations, along with distinguished dignitaries and guests from across the world.Some of the alumni who will be awarded gold medals during the convocation on Tuesday shared their experience with the university on Monday. Sharing his experience, Saurabh Kumar Sinha, an MBA (Sustainable Development and Management, 2022-24) graduate, currently working with ONGC as a geoscientist, said: “I am presently working on India’s first geothermal well drilling project. My journey at Nalanda has been instrumental in shaping my professional path.

Snigdha, a graduate from the School of Ecology and Environment Studies (2020-22), now pursuing her PhD in environmental toxicology in Japan, said: “Being honoured by the President will be a unique achievement, and it feels wonderful to return to my alma mater.”Seerat, from Kashmir and a graduate of the School of Management Studies (2020-22), currently working with ONGC India, said: “Being a part of Nalanda is a matter of immense pride for me. Returning here for the convocation is a special moment.”
