PMC clears deck for PM Ekta Mall construction

Patna Municipal Corporation has greenlit the Prime Minister Ekta Bhawan (PM Ekta Mall) construction on a 3.39-acre plot. This B+G+5 structure, under the ‘One District, One Product’ scheme, will showcase products from across India, boosting local artisans and the economy. The committee also approved water supply improvements and various infrastructure projects.

Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the construction of Prime Minister Ekta Bhawan (PM Ekta Mall). The previously approved site was changed to PMC’s plot, spanning a total area of 3.39 acres, near BD School at Buddha Colony.The decision was among the 21 agendas passed in the 20th meeting of the Empowered Standing Committee of the PMC. The meeting was chaired by mayor Sita Sahu and commissioner Yashpal Meena on Monday.The B+G+5 structure will be constructed under the “One District, One Product (ODP)” scheme. The mall will house traditional products from all districts of Bihar, as well as from various states and union territories across the country, all under one roof.

This will provide marketing opportunities, promoting local artisans, craftsmen, and entrepreneurs. It will also boost the economy.The committee also approved the installation of five submersible borings in each ward to improve drinking water supply across the city for summer season. Other key works cleared include construction of septic tank and soak pit along with repair and painting of community toilets and boring work at Gai Ghat.

Additional approvals were given for repair work at Azimabad circle office.Pipeline extension works under ward no. 16, road and drain construction in ward no. 30, and PCC road work in Rukanpura under ward no. 3, and installation of high-yield tubewell at Bhawar Pokhar Park in ward no. 39 were also approved.The lane from 90-feet road to Ambedkar Chowk under ward no. 45 will be named as Manas Mandir Path. The committee further cleared appointment on compassionate ground cases covering 37 applications from three previous meetings of the Compassionate Committee.Several plans were discussed to address the water shortage in various wards of the city in view of approaching summer. There was also discussion of selecting a new agency for tax assessment and revenue collection for buildings within the municipal area.The meeting was attended by the deputy mayor Reshmi Kumari, additional municipal commissioners Rajan Sinha, Krishna Swaroop and Vinay Kumar, and the Empowered Standing Committee members.
