BHOPAL: A man allegedly molested a four-year-old girl in the city but was caught by the girl’s mother, who raised an alarm, leading to the accused being apprehended.The accused mother rescued her four-year-old daughter from a man and led a neighbourhood chase to apprehend the accused on Sunday afternoon. The suspect was intercepted by a group of residents, thrashedand subsequently handed over to the police.The incident occurred around 2:30 pm while the minor was playing outside her residence.Her mother was standing nearby, engaged in a conversation with a neighbour, when the accused—who lives in neighbourhood—passed by. Seeing the child momentarily separated from her mother’s direct reach, the accused allegedly molested her.The mother, however, spotted the inappropriate act from a distance and immediately raised an alarm. Caught in the act, Vikram abandoned the child and attempted to flee towards his own home. Refusing to let him escape, the mother chased him through the streets while shouting for help. Although the accused initially managed to reach his house and attempted to hide, the gathering crowd tracked him down.Police have formally arrested Vikram and registered a case under sections of the BNS and the POCSO Act.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
