Berhampur: A tanker carrying hydrochloric acid (HCL) overturned at Bada Ghati on NH-16 under Ganjam district’s Khallikote police station limits on Tuesday afternoon. There were reports of acid leak after the accident.
Police said the tanker was going from Vijayanagarm in Andhra Pradesh to Angul. The vehicle staff, including its driver, are safe, said police. Police personnel and firefighters have deployed near the mishap site to prevent the people from venturing to the accident site.In another accident, two persons were killed when a stone-laden tractor ran over them at Bhusunda in Digapahandi police station limits. The deceased were identified as Toffan Gouda (25) and Sumit Kumar Panda (27), of Palajhadi village. They were returning to their village in a motorbike from Digapahandi, when the accident took place. Local people rushed them to the Digapahandi hospital where the doctors declared them dead.
