Malayalam superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty’s highly anticipated thriller ‘Patriot’ has been postponed from its April 23, 2026 release. Makers cited unforeseen circumstances, promising a new date soon. Fans expressed disappointment over the delay and perceived lack of promotion for the big-budget film. Meanwhile, Mohanlal’s ‘Drishyam 3’ also faces a delay.
Mohanlal and Mammootty are teaming up in the upcoming thriller ‘Patriot’ after a long gap. Even though the promotions seem to be not so much for this highly awaited movie, the fans are thrilled to see the stars back on the big screen together.
According to the latest update, the release of the espionage thriller ‘Patriot’ has been postponed. The film was originally scheduled to release on April 23, 2026. Makers announced the delay due to unforeseen circumstances and will reveal the new release date on April 1.

‘Patriot’ production house issued a statement on March 31 confirming the postponement. The producers said they are working to bring Patriot to screens at the highest quality and also assured fans that the delay is only by a few days.
The new date will be shared through the official social media pages of Mammootty and Mohanlal.

The official statement read, “We are working tirelessly to bring ‘Patriot’ to your screens at its highest quality. However, due to some unforeseen circumstances, the release of the film, which was previously set for April 23, is inevitably being postponed by a few days. The new release date for the film will be shared tomorrow at 6:00 PM through the official social media pages of our dear Mammukka (Mammootty) and Lalettan (Mohanlal).
We look forward to your continued love and support.”

‘Drishyam 3′ also gets delayed
In another news, Mohanlal’s ‘Drishyam 3’ was also postponed. The film was earlier set to release on April 2, 2026. It has now been shifted to May 21, 2026 to coincide with Mohanlal’s birthday. The delay is mainly due to ongoing tensions in the Gulf region which is an important market for Malayalam films.
Jeethu Joseph is directing Drishyam 3.Coming to ‘Patriot’, the movie is touted to be an action flick and the trailer has some ‘Person of interest’ vibes which is quite interesting. The film features Mohanlal, Mammootty, Nayanthara, Kunchacko Boban, and Fahadh Faasil in the lead roles.
