Woman injured as she jumps off moving auto after dispute over fare, driver held for rash driving

An FIR was registered under Section 281 (rash or negligent driving) of the BNS and the accused was arrested

Noida: A 20-year-old woman sustained minor injuries after she allegedly jumped from a moving auto-rickshaw following a dispute over booking and fare with the driver and a co-passenger.

Police registered a case of rash driving and arrested the driver.According to the complaint, the Sector 45 resident had booked an auto through an app. She alleged that there was another man seated at the front apart from the driver, which made her her uncomfortable as she had booked the ride for herself.The auto suddenly started speeding, which made her suspicious. Feeling unsafe due to the presence of the additional passenger and the driver’s behaviour she jumped out of the vehicle after it had travelled around 300m, she claimed.

She sustained minor injuries in the fall.She later approached the police and filed a complaint regarding the incident. An FIR was subsequently registered under Section 281 (rash or negligent driving) of the BNS and the accused was arrested.Police said that investigation revealed that the driver and woman had gotten into a dispute over the fare. Inquiries suggested the incident did not involve any attempt to harm the woman, cops said, adding that further legal proceedings are underway.
