Film City foundation stone to be laid on April 24

Noida Authority office in Sector 96

Noida: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath is likely to lay the foundation stone of the Film City project on April 24, which is also observed as the foundation day for the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).

Noida Authority, which will also observe its foundation day on April 17, will see the launch of its administrative building in Sector 96, besides the clock tower near GIP Mall. For Noida, this April marks its golden jubilee, while Yamuna Authority will celebrate its silver jubilee.In Jan 2024, Bayview Bhutani Film City Pvt Ltd won the bid to develop the Film City at an estimated investment of Rs 1,510 crore. The consortium also plans to establish a film institute offering training across acting, direction, cinematography and technical disciplines.Of the 230 acres earmarked for Phase 1, 155 acres have been designated for industrial use and 75 acres for commercial development. The industrial zone includes 21 acres for the film institute and 134 acres for production facilities. Last month, filming for the upcoming film ‘Mom 2’ took place on a temporary set at the site.YEIDA is expediting other projects around the Noida airport following its inauguration on March 28.

YEIDA CEO RK Singh said that the the Authority will organise a three-day celebration in Film City on Foundation Day.Filmmaker Boney Kapoor, who also attended the airport inauguration, said, “I am not just helping the development, I am being a part of it.”Noida CEO Krishna Karunesh said that the Authority is making a list of projects that will be inaugurated and others whose foundation will be laid. “The Authority’s main administrative building in Sector 96 is ready and it will be inaugurated on Foundation Day on April 17.

There are some other projects, including the Clock Tower near GIP Mall, which will be inaugurated,” he said.Noida’s administrative complex is located along the Noida Expressway, providing good connectivity to different sectors and neighbouring areas. At present, offices of the Authority’s various departments and work circles operate from multiple sectors – including the main administrative office in Sector 6, the horticulture department in Sector 39, and offices in sectors 19 and 20.Initially planned as two towers with 18 and nine floors, each, the project design was later revised to two towers of four and eight floors on a six-acre plot. The revised project cost has been reduced to Rs 390 crore from the initial estimate of Rs 478 crore.Noida’s new clock tower near GIP Mall, a 75-foot-tall structure, is inspired by the Lal Chowk clock tower in Srinagar. It was developed at a cost of Rs 1.8 crore.
