RUDRAPUR: A 40-year-old woman from Delhi died in mysterious circumstances at a five-star hotel in Rudrapur on Wednesday evening. Jyoti Sharma, a resident of Lodhi Road, Mehar Chand Market, Delhi, and her business partner, Amit Chaudhary, had checked into the hotel late on Tuesday night.The two arrived in Uttarakhand to visit the revered Kainchi Dham in Bhowali. After offering prayers, they began their return journey to Delhi on Tuesday night but decided to halt in Rudrapur as it was late.SSP Ajay Ganpati said, “After checking into the hotel, the two ordered drinks. Later, around noon on Wednesday, they ordered beer. Shortly after, the woman’s health suddenly deteriorated.”Chaudhary alerted the hotel staff, who immediately arranged an ambulance.
She was rushed to the district hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival.“We are examining CCTV footage and questioning hotel staff, as well as the man accompanying her. A forensic team has also arrived to investigate the matter,” said the SSP, adding Chaudhary, a resident of Jaunapur in South Delhi, has been detained for interrogation. No case had been filed yet as police were waiting for postmortem and forensic reports.
