Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez is reportedly facing frustration inside the dressing room. This comes after his recent behaviour raised concerns among teammates. The vice-captain has been under the spotlight following comments about his future.
Reports suggest that some former players are also not happy with his attitude at a time when the team is struggling for form and consistency across competitions. One of them is former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel. The situation has become more serious as Chelsea continue to deal with poor results. Fernandez is leading the side in the absence of Reece James. However, his recent statements and actions have created doubts about his commitment. This has also upset fans, especially after the club’s heavy Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
Enzo Fernandez faces major backlash after his recent comments
Enzo Fernandez’s troubles began after Chelsea’s heavy loss to Paris Saint-Germain. The loss ended their Champions League journey in a disappointing way. After the match, he spoke about his future in a way that suggested uncertainty. He explained that there were still a few games left in the season and other competitions to think about, adding that decisions about his future would come later. His words gave the impression that he was not fully focused on the club’s immediate goals.
Things got worse when Fernandez spoke about his admiration for Madrid. In an interview, he said that if he had to choose a city in Europe to live in, he would prefer Madrid because it reminds him of Buenos Aires. He repeated similar thoughts in another online interaction. These comments were seen as hints toward a possible move, which did not go down well with fans or team-mates.

Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel also criticised Fernandez.
Speaking on his podcast, Mikel suggested that such comments from a captain figure are unacceptable. He said that if a player is not fully committed, it is better to be honest and step away. He also stressed that no individual is bigger than a club like Chelsea and that players must respect the badge and supporters. On the field, Fernandez’ behaviour has also drawn attention. During the PSG game, he was seen reacting angrily towards goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen after a costly mistake. At one point, he even threw the ball in frustration. Though his passion is clearly visible, some players feel his reactions are too aggressive.
