The Noida International Airport was inaugurated on March 28
Noida: The district administration will set up daily camps across 14 villages in Jewar from Friday to speed up compensation payments to farmers affected by land acquisition for the expansion of Noida International Airport.
The exercise covers 1,838 hectares acquired under phases 3 and 4 of the project. The villages covered under this exercise include – Thora, Neemka Shahjahanpur, Khwajpur, Ramner, Kishorepur, Banwaribas, Parohi, Muqimpur Shivara, Jewar Bangar, Sabauta Mustafabad, Ahmedpur Chaurauli, Dayanatpur, Bankapur and Rohi. Camps will be held at designated locations including primary schools, panchayat bhawans and community centres in the 14 villages until all farmers are covered. The compensation to be disbursed is Rs 4300 per sqm with interest. As per the rehabilitation plan, around 16,000 farmer families will be displaced following the acquisition, officials said.District magistrate Medha Roopam said the camps aim to streamline paperwork and ensure quicker payouts. “Compensation distribution for acquired land will be carried out with complete transparency and speed through these camps,” the DM added.
At each camp, revenue teams will collect required files from affected farmers, prepare compensation files and complete necessary formalities on the spot. A revenue inspector, lekhpal (village accountant) and amin (village surveyor) have been deployed in every village for this purpose. The last time such camps were held was during the first phase of acquisition.Jewar SDM Durgesh Singh has been appointed nodal officer for the exercise and has been directed to visit camps daily along with the concerned naib tehsildar.
He will verify and sign compensation files before forwarding them to the additional district magistrate (land acquisition) office for final processing.“The camps will help streamline the process, which otherwise would have taken 5-7 days through the usual channel. In the previous phase of land compensation disbursal, the farmers would submit their files to the lekhpal, who would then forward it to the amin, who would attach the land survey documents and then forward to the SDM, who would then sign them and then the file would be sent to the ADM (land acquisition).
Through these camps, all this process will be completed in one day,” Singh said. The district administration has urged all affected farmers to attend the camps in their respective villages and complete documentation to avoid delays in receiving compensation.According to officials, disbursal of compensation to affected due to the Phase 2 of the airport expansion has already been completed, said officials. However, the compensation of farmers affected by land acquisition of 189 hectares of land acquired from seven villages for resettlement — Jewar Bangar, Sadullapur (Modelpur), Falaida Bangar, Karauli Bangar, Tirthali, Dhanpura, Mehandipur Bangar — is currently underway.
The acquisition will affect 1,080 families and they are being compensated at the rate of Rs 4,300 per sqm.“The compensation amount disbursal of the seven villages which will be acquired to set up the resettlement and rehabilitation colony is underway and once it is complete, the land will be acquired and the YEIDA authority will start developing it,” DM Roopam said. The Phase 2 expansion of the airport will include a second runway and a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility along with a parallel taxiway and expand aircraft parking with 27 additional bays, alongside a new 90,000 sqm terminal building to handle another 2,750 passengers at peak capacity.Under phases 3 and 4, the Noida International Airport (NIA) will be turned into a full-scale aviation and industrial hub, combining passenger expansion with cargo and aerospace manufacturing growth. The blueprint includes dedicated cargo complexes, aerospace clusters, and allocation of 300 hectares for global aerospace players. On the infrastructure side, both phases will significantly scale up capacity.
This includes apron expansion with dozens of additional aircraft bays, and large terminal expansions of about 1.6 lakh sqm each — adding peak handling capacity for 3,500 and 3,000 passengers respectively. Cargo infrastructure will also be strengthened with expansions of up to 30,000 sqm and 50,000 sqm.Operational efficiency will be enhanced through rapid exit taxi tracks for runways, along with supporting electrical and mechanical systems such as substations. Together, these phases will move the airport beyond a passenger facility into a major logistics and aerospace hub.
