CHENNAI: In a major relief to suburban train commuters on the Tambaram-Chennai Beach stretch, Southern Railway will restore the regular schedule of train operations – 212 services in up and down directions on the 29-km stretch from Friday, two days ahead of the original deadline.>From Friday, 106 trains will originate from Chennai Beach to Tambaram, and the regular extensions up to Chengalpet, Kancheepuram, Tirumalpet and Arakkonam will be operated as they were operated till Feb 20. Similarly, 106 services will be operated in the return direction up to Chennai Beach. Southern Railway has also restored the Sunday schedule of 189 trains on the stretch. With the restoration of the regular schedule, Southern Railway will not operate fast locals on the stretch it was operating to reduce inconvenience of commuters.
