Guest worker killed as towel gets caught in stone crusher

Chennai: A guest worker from Odisha died after his head got trapped in a machine at a private stone-crushing unit near Chithamur in Kancheepuram district.The deceased has been identified as Samra Birala, 40, a native of Sundargarh district in Odisha.

He was working at a stone-processing factory located in Mudhukarai village near Chithamur.The incident occurred around 11am on Thursday while Samra was operating a machine used to produce M-sand. During the process, a towel tied around his neck got caught in the machine. He got pulled in and sustained severe injuries. Co-workers rushed him to the govt hospital in Maduranthakam. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival. TNN
