Govt revises school, Anganwadi timings

Bihar’s education department has revised school and Anganwadi timings due to rising temperatures and heatwave concerns. Effective April 6, all schools will operate in the morning shift. Anganwadi centres will now run from 7:30 am to 11:30 am. District officials have been granted authority to adjust timings based on local conditions, prioritizing student and visitor well-being.

Patna: Taking into account the sultry condition and possibility of a heatwave in Bihar, the education department issued fresh orders revising the timings of schools and Anganwadi centres across the state. From April 6 onwards, all primary, secondary and higher secondary schools in the state will function only in the morning shift. The department has given district education officers the authority to decide the timings for those schools that run in two shifts due to lack of space. Additionally, district magistrates have also been empowered to modify school timings in their respective districts according to local conditions and the severity of the heat.Meanwhile, all Anganwadi centres will now operate from 7.30am to 11.30am. The department said that this change was made in view of the rapidly increasing temperatures and the expected heatwave. The decision prioritises the health and safety of children, pregnant women and lactating mothers who visit these centres. The centres will now open early in the morning and close before noon to avoid exposure to extreme afternoon heat.
