OnePlus Nord Buds 4 Pro review: A practical choice

Rating — 3.5/5The Nord lineup has always stood out for staying close to OnePlus’ original idea — offering good features at a price that feels fair. With the OnePlus Nord Buds 4 Pro, priced at ₹3,999 in India, the company is trying to bring that same value-driven approach.

On paper, these earbuds promise features that are usually seen in more expensive options, but what matters is how they perform in daily use.In a market crowded with options under ₹5,000, OnePlus is clearly trying to stand out by offering features that are usually seen in slightly more expensive earbuds. The Nord Buds 4 Pro focuses on everyday usability — things like sound quality, comfort, and battery life — while also adding a few modern touches aimed at younger users. We used the earbuds across daily scenarios, including music, calls, and casual content consumption, to see how they fit into real-world use. Here’s a closer look at how the OnePlus Nord Buds 4 Pro performs and where they stand in this competitive segment.

OnePlus Nord Buds 4 Pro design

On the design front, the OnePlus Nord Buds 4 Pro comes with a charging case that moves away from the usual pebble-style shape. Instead, it has a slightly squarish look, which makes it feel a bit more structured in hand.

The case is compact and easy to carry around. The matte finish is a welcome change here. It does not pick up fingerprints easily and keeps the case looking clean even after regular use. On the front, there’s a subtle OnePlus logo along with an LED indicator that changes colours to show battery and charging status.

Open the lid, and you’ll find clearly marked slots for the left and right earbuds. The magnets holding the buds in place feel strong and secure, so there’s no worry about them coming loose.

There is a USB Type-C port for charging, along with a setup button on the bottom side. The earbuds follow a simple, practical design. They are made of plastic with a matte finish, which again helps avoid smudges. Each earbud is lightweight and sits comfortably in the ear. The in-ear fit feels secure, whether you’re walking around or doing light workouts.

OnePlus has continued with touch controls here, similar to the previous Nord buds, but has now added slide gestures for volume control — a useful addition in daily use.

There’s also wear detection, so audio pauses automatically when you remove the earbuds. The IP55 rating adds basic protection against dust and splashes, making them suitable for everyday conditions.

OnePlus Nord Buds 4 Pro performance

We’ve been using the OnePlus Nord Buds 4 Pro as our daily earbuds for music, calls, and content, and the overall experience feels focused on consistency rather than flashy features. Starting with audio, the sound signature leans towards a bass-heavy profile, which works well for popular Bollywood tracks.

Songs like “Kesariya”, “Heeriye”, and “Chaleya” sound punchy, with vocals staying clear. For casual listening, especially during commutes or workouts, we didn’t feel the need to tweak much. The mids and highs are decent, though not the sharpest in this segment. Where we did notice a difference is with codec support. With LHDC support on compatible phones, audio feels slightly richer and more detailed, especially while watching videos or streaming shows.

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is another area where the OnePlus Nord Buds 4 Pro tries to stand out. In our use, the ANC works well for everyday scenarios like traffic noise, fans, or office chatter. The highest ANC mode can feel slightly strong at times, creating a bit of pressure in the ears. Having said that, the earbuds do a good job cutting down constant background noise.Battery life is another stronger aspect of OnePlus Nord Buds 4 Pro.

Even with regular usage of around 2-3 hours a day and ANC turned on most of the time, we didn’t find ourselves reaching for the charger too often. The case holds enough charge to keep the earbuds going for several days, which makes them reliable for daily use. Call quality is decent too. Voices come through clearly in quiet environments. In slightly noisy surroundings, the microphones manage to keep conversations usable.

OnePlus Nord Buds 4 Pro

Tapping on the earbuds activates the AI assistant on OnePlus Nord Buds 4 Pro which helps in setting reminders, alarms, AI prompts and more. The feature worked well for most of the cases. There is also an AI translation feature supported on the earbuds. However, it works with select OnePlus devices with OxygenOS 15.0.1 and above.Overall, the Nord Buds 4 Pro focuses on delivering a stable, easy-to-live-with experience — good battery, reliable ANC, and sound that works well for everyday listening.

Verdict

OnePlus Nord Buds 4 Pro packs a bunch of premium features for its price tag of Rs 3,999. The earbuds manage to cover the basics well while offering extras like good ANC, strong battery life and AI features that makes it future-ready. From connectivity to daily usage, the Nord Buds 4 Pro feels smooth and reliable. The sound tuning, while slightly bass-heavy, works well for most users. If you are looking for a pair of earbuds that’s not flashy, but is dependable for day-to-day usage, then OnePlus Nord Buds 4 Pro is a practical choice.
