Anupama’s arrival back in Ahmedabad stirs the pot at the Shah residence, where her welcome is anything but unanimous. Some family members extend their arms, but whispers of financial strain echo through the halls. Mahi is determined to carve out her own path, while Prem dreams of having Anupama as the face of his grand restaurant opening.
‘Anupamaa’ opens with Jaya asking Anupama if she lives in Ahmedabad. Anupama tells her that Ahmedabad will be her home now, too. Jaya says she is already missing Banku and Digvijay.
The episode establishes immediately that while Anupama is back, she carries everything she left behind in Goa with her.
Anupama walks back into the Shah house
When Anupama arrives, the reception is predictably mixed. Paritosh asks how long she is staying. Hasmuk shuts him down immediately, reminding him that she is his mother and not a guest whose days need to be counted. Leela tells Anupama she was missed. Ishani hugs her. Anupama tells Hasmuk not to fight with Paritosh and Pakhi over her.
She tells everyone she failed to adjust in Goa and has come back to find a new place for herself and Jaya.
Hasmuk tells her the house is hers and she is not going anywhere, then goes to make tea for Anupama and a burger for Jaya. Anupama looks up and quietly asks God to take care of things this time.
A house full of arguments
The Shah house is not at peace. Leela is trying to figure out how to run the house without asking Paritosh or Pakhi for money. Jassi offers her own funds and Leela accepts but makes clear that Jassi will eventually need to find her own way.
Pakhi tells Leela to stop crying over money and asks Ansh to find Leela a new job. Mahi cuts in, saying Ansh should find something respectable rather than just being Jassi’s manager. Jassi fires back, accusing Mahi of trying to befriend Leela now that the Kotharis have thrown her out.
Anupama walks in at exactly this moment and asks them to carry on.
Mahi stands on her own
Mahi tells Anupama she wants to build her career. Anupama asks her directly if she regrets leaving Gautam.
Mahi says no, without hesitation, and tells Anupama she will stand on her own feet. She asks for her blessing. Anupama gives it, wishing that Mahi grows. Mahi quietly decides to surprise her and later arrives with a cake. Anupama blesses her again and wishes that all her children stay happy always.
Prem’s restaurant and Vasundhara’s wall
Rahi is already worried about the restaurant inspection, having just learned the company has hired an independent chef to inspect because being Prem’s wife could make her appear biased.
She is actually happy with the decision. Prem is nervous. Rahi tells him to fix things while there’s still time.As soon as the news of Anupama’s return spreads, Prem tells everyone he invited her and wants her to inaugurate his restaurant. He calls her his teacher and says he wants to give her the respect she deserves. Vasundhara asks if someone in the Kothari family has passed away, since why else would Prem be turning to an outsider for something this significant? Prem handles her carefully, telling her he cannot grow without her blessing while making clear Anupama is coming regardless.
Gautam issues a warning
Rahi decides to take Pranshi to meet Anupama. Gautam steps in and says Pranshi will not go near the woman he accuses of killing Prarthana. Rahi defends Anupama. Gautam tries to take Pranshi by force. Khyati steps forward and tells him he can do whatever he wants, but Pranshi is going to meet Anupama. Rahi thanks her. Gautam goes straight to Vasundhara and tells her Anupama has returned and that someone will die because of it, whether a person or someone’s wish.
Vasundhara is visibly shaken.
