In a wedding landscape often dominated by predictable bling, glam, and maximalism, the wedding fashion diaries of Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda felt infinitely more striking and unique. After almost a month since their wedding, the couple’s first pictures from their Kodagu-style wedding are out, where the ensembles were not just fashion but a quiet celebration of heritage, history, and glam.The couple hosted a lavish wedding reception at the Serenity Hall in Virajpet, Kodagu, or Coorg, which is the bride’s hometown. In the presence of their close friends and family, the couple embraced the local traditions and were seen draped in Kodagu-style ensembles.

Instead of opting for a usual saree or reception gown, Rashmika wore a stunning green and pink-hued Kanjeevaram silk saree, which she draped in traditional Coorg style.

Women of Kodagu never drape the pallu over the shoulder, but the fabric wraps around the bust, and the edge of the pallu is brought over the right shoulder and secured with a pin at the back. For accessories, she continued to reach for maximalist jewellery notes, much like her other pre-wedding festivities, and chose regal gold jewellery, which instantly elevated the golden threads woven into the silk drape. Rashmika wore a layered necklace with stacked bangles and donned classic gold jhumkas, where the gold safety pin was also a glittering golden shade.

Instead of leaving her hair down, she secured her long locks into a sleek bun, decorated with fresh white gajra. On the makeup front, Rashmika kept the focus on her big, bold eyes, decorating them with winged eyeliner and glittery hues, and completed the look with peach cheeks and mauve-toned lips.

Now, moving to the groom, who looked nothing less than an ‘80s South film hero, he opted for black flared trousers, teamed them with a white open-collar shirt, and layered the look with a black blazer that carried accents of silver motifs.

To complete the look, he wore a pair of white shoes and stood tall alongside his wife. The couple drew inspiration from Kodagu traditions, which might look unconventional to some, but it brought a fresh perspective to the bridalwear market in India. Echoing a sense of timeless luxury with their accessories, the overall aesthetic looked intimate, intentional, and obviously deeply connected to one’s roots, which is what weddings are all about.
