New Delhi: To make the administrative structure of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) more streamlined and coordinated, a proposal for the renaming of various MCD zones has been given anticipatory approval by the standing committee chairperson Satya Sharma on Wednesday.
The proposal will now be presented before the Corporation House, and after its approval, it will be sent to central govt for final clearance, said Sharma.Sharma said the decision has been taken in accordance with the recent reorganization of revenue districts by Delhi govt. She said that the number of revenue districts in the capital has been increased from 11 to 13, and accordingly, the names of MCD zones are being aligned. Narela Zone will be renamed as ‘Outer-North’, Civil Lines as ‘North’, and Rohini as ‘North-West’. Similarly, Keshavpuram will be renamed ‘North-Central’, Karol Bagh as ‘City-Sadar Paharganj’, and Najafgarh as ‘South-West’.
Shahdara (South) will be renamed ‘East’ and Shahdara (North) as ‘North-East’, while the names of South and West zones will remain unchanged.
