In a business world driven by performance and precision, two words consistently define Smarthveer Sidana across geographies: kindness and sharp intellect. In a recent feature by the Alumni Relations team at IIT Delhi, over 12 global leaders from the United States, London, Singapore, and India shared their perspectives on the IIT Delhi alumnus.

Beyond the IQ An IIT Delhi graduate, Sidana has worked with BCG and engaged in research at Imperial College London and the University of British Columbia. His recognitions include Forbes 30 Under 30 and Entrepreneur’s 35 Under 35. Yet peers and mentors point less to his credentials and more to his ability to combine sharp thinking with genuine empathy. An abundance mindset Former colleague Annu Jha recalls his calm ownership during high-pressure consulting projects.
When deadlines stretched late into the night, he would take responsibility and ensure others could rest. The same is highlighted by Kate Brennan, who is an LP in two VC funds. She mentions that, “there is also something very important about him as a human. He works incredibly hard but is also very kind”. Both Kate Brennan and Annu Jha also note his quiet generosity.
He has supported underprivileged students with books and resources, often without drawing attention to it. Leadership with values Jim Moffatt, a board partner at Greycroft VC, describes him as someone who leads with values and treats everyone with respect. He recalls a rare instance where his executive assistant personally thanked Sidana for his gracious conduct. Kate Brennan, founder of the Brennan Group, calls him driven yet deeply caring. Dr Bernd Waltermann, former chairman of BCG Southeast Asia, highlights his rare balance of high IQ and strong emotional intelligence. A relationship builder Sidana’s approach to relationships is consistent and long-term. Pulkit Shamshery of Rivian remembers meeting him years ago as a student visiting MIT. What stood out was not the introduction, but the years of genuine care that followed, without expectation. Others describe him as thoughtful, generous with his time, and committed to helping people grow. A purpose-driven journey At IIT Delhi, his former head of department remembers him as both academically strong and deeply supportive of peers.
His early recognition, including the Sumant Sinha Sustainability Leadership Award and 10 other awards, reflected his inclination towards meaningful impact, both for academic and student welfare. Across roles and geographies, one theme remains constant: a focus on building something lasting while staying grounded in values.
