After working across television and web series, Amitt K Singh made his theatrical debut with Vadh 2, released last month. The actor, who has been part of web shows such as Bhaukaal and Mohrey, as well as TV shows Dil Sambhal Jaa Zara and Shaadi Ke Siyape, stepped into the role of Inspector Ateet Singh in the crime thriller.
For Amitt, the move to the big screen demanded a different level of precision. He says, “A theatrical release hits differently. The big screen magnifies everything, performance, silence, and intent. Seeing my name in the credits of Vadh 2 feels like stepping into a larger cinematic space while carrying everything I’ve learnt from other mediums. Television and OTT trained me to stay sharp and adaptable. This feels like an evolution of that journey rather than a departure from it.

He says being cast as Inspector Ateet Singh came with a clear sense of responsibility. He shares, “The moment I learnt I was cast felt surreal, but also heavy in a good way. I immediately felt protective of the character. He is layered, wounded, sharp, and deeply human. My first thought was that the role deserved honesty, not performance. Knowing it would release nationwide pushed me to prepare with greater discipline.
I paid closer attention to stillness, subtext, and emotional truth because the big screen does not forgive anything artificial. I wanted Ateet to feel real enough that audiences would believe him.” Portraying a police officer in a crime thriller meant avoiding familiar patterns. He explains, “The biggest challenge was avoiding clichés. Police characters in crime thrillers can easily slip into stereotypes, but Ateet operates in a moral grey space. He is sharp, flawed, and emotionally burdened. I focused on restraint rather than overt intensity. I worked on his body language, his silence, and the way he listens more than he speaks.
The emotional challenge was carrying the weight of the cases without dramatising it, allowing the exhaustion and inner conflict to stay under the surface.”
