Anuradha Paudwal: Asha Bhosle defied her age, faced every hardship and emerged a winner

Anuradha Paudwal fondly remembers Asha Bhosle, describing her as an artiste who breathed life into every song. Paudwal shared cherished memories of collaborating with Bhosle and highlighted her incredible versatility, energy, and unwavering spirit. She emphasized that Bhosle’s voice, discipline, and love for music served as a profound inspiration, leaving a legacy that will forever resonate.

Anuradha Paudwal spoke exclusively to Bombay Times, remembering the legendary Asha Bhosle as an artiste who brought life to every song she sang. “There are some departures that do not feel real. This is one of them.

It takes me back almost 50 years. My husband, Arun Paudwal, used to accompany Ashaji on her tours. Those memories feel so alive today.

It was my father-in-law’s wish that I sing a duet with Ashaji. I got that blessing and Aala Aala Vara became a superhit. I will always remain grateful for that. More than anything, I remember how kind and loving she was,” she said. She added, “Ashaji was never just a voice. She was movement.

She was rhythm. She was life itself flowing through music. Even time could not tire her and age could not touch her spirit. Till the very end, she sang full of energy, so joyful, so alive. That is not just talent. That is divine grace.” Highlighting Asha Bhosle’s versatility, she shared, “When I think of her today, so many songs come flooding back. Every mood, every emotion, every shade of music. She did not just sing songs, she gave them life.

For all of us, she was a true inspiration. Not only for singers, but for millions around the world. We looked up to her greatness, her discipline and her endless love for music. She was truly a pillar of music. Today there is pain and deep emptiness.

And yet, along with that pain comes gratitude. We were blessed to witness her, to hear her and learn from her.” “Some voices can never fade. Asha ji’s voice, spirit and memory will live on forever in every note. She defied her age, faced every hardship life placed before her and emerged a winner. Even at 90, she danced her way into countless hearts with the same energy and joy. She will live forever. Any other artist faced with so many challenges would have gone into oblivion. But she set an example by being an example by teaching us how to live with sheer grit! Jhuk gaya aasmaan stands true with her…she is the winner,” concluded the singer.
