BENGALURU: State-run defence and engineering firm BEML Limited has secured an export order worth $36.4 million from the West Asian , marking a steady step in its push to expand overseas operations. The order involves the supply of heavy earthmoving equipment, a segment where BEML has traditionally catered to mining. The company said these platforms have now been adapted for infrastructure development, particularly for high-intensity reconstruction and strategic projects in demanding environments.“The machines have been redesigned with performance and durability upgrades to meet international standards.
Among the key features is a ROPS (Roll Over Protective Structure)/FOPS (Falling Object Protective Structure)-certified cabin aimed at improving operator safety in harsh working conditions. The equipment is expected to support large-scale infrastructure activity across the region,” BEML said.Beyond supply, the project is likely to include a maintenance and lifecycle support contract. Under this arrangement, BEML, along with a local partner, will provide spares, servicing and lifecycle management to ensure operational readiness over time.
Such long-term support contracts are increasingly becoming a requirement in global infrastructure projects.BEML CMD Shantanu Roy said: “…The order reflects the company’s growing competitiveness in international markets and aligns with its strategy to expand its presence in infrastructure development.” He added that the company aims to deliver reliable, technology-driven solutions suited to evolving global requirements. The deal also signals BEML’s entry into a technologically advanced and strategically significant infrastructure market in West Asia, where demand for durable and high-performance equipment remains strong. This comes shortly after BEML secured its first overseas metro rolling stock order, valued at about $60 million, for the African region. With the latest contract, the company’s total international order book has reached roughly $106.9 million.Officials said the developments shows BEML’s ability to execute global projects through local partnerships, while contributing to India’s broader push to increase exports and strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities.
