Bihar Diwas celebrations draw to a close

Patna: The three-day Bihar Diwas celebrations concluded on Tuesday at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary attended as the chief guest, while education minister Sunil Kumar presided over the event.

Additional chief secretary B Rajendra and other administration officials were present at the closing ceremony.During the proceedings, Choudhary spoke about the state’s development and the govt’s road map for infrastructure, industrial growth and youth self-employment, while Sunil Kumar highlighted the changes in the education sector over the years. The education department showcased initiatives such as “Model Schools” and “Nipun Bihar” through various stalls.

Organisers said that between 25,000 and 30,000 people visited the department pavilion and stalls daily to gather information about innovations and departmental functions.The celebrations at Gandhi Maidan also witnessed a large number of visitors at the information and public relations department pavilion, where around 1,200 people visited the facility and 500 people engaged with virtual photography templates of the prime minister and chief minister on the final day.

The tourism department recorded 900 enquiries regarding destinations in the state, and more than 300 people experienced the AR/VR tours, while viewing three-dimensional replicas of regional landmarks and traditional food stalls from various districts.

The agriculture department showcased digital tools, including the Bihar Krishi App, drone-based pesticide spraying systems and soil testing laboratories, along with displays of organic farming and improved seed varieties.The rural development department’s JEEViKA pavilion featured 13 women-led producer companies and five food stalls under the Didi Ki Rasoi brand. Exhibits included live demonstrations of Madhubani painting and revived traditional arts such as Sikki and bamboo crafts. The event also presented progress reports on the sustainable livelihood scheme, neera production and the chief minister’s women’s employment scheme.

Daily programming concluded with technical presentations on the digital crop survey and cultural performances by folk artists and state broadcasters.The final day featured musical performances by playback singer Papon at the main stage. Other programmes included Dhrupad singing by Pandit Ramji Mishra and Bharatanatyam by N Vijay Lakshmi at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall. Rabindra Bhavan hosted a folk music performance by Chandan Tiwari and a dance drama titled “Bihar Darpan.” The event concluded with a literary symposium featuring twelve poets. The 114th Bihar Diwas was organised under the theme “Unnat Bihar, Ujjwal Bihar.
