BJP functionary arrested with liquor in Kishanganj

A BJP Yuva Morcha district vice president and former VHP treasurer in Kishanganj was apprehended with over 264 litres of illicit liquor. The arrest occurred during a vehicle check following a tip-off about liquor smuggling from West Bengal. Police also seized cash and a mobile phone, and are now investigating potential accomplices in the smuggling operation.

Patna: BJP Yuva Morcha district vice president and former VHP treasurer in Kishanganj was arrested with 264.28 litres of illicit liquor during a vehicle-checking drive on Monday.

Police seized a car, Rs30,200 in cash and a mobile phone from his possession.Following a tip-off about a West Bengal-Bihar liquor smuggling nexus, the arrest was made. Rohit Choudhary (38), son of Kailash Chaudhary and a resident of Ruidhasa ward no. 23 in Kishanganj district, was arrested at Chardharia checkpoint under Kochadhaman police station area while he was transporting liquor in a car.Police are investigating links and tracking his accomplices.SP, Kishanganj, Santosh Kumar, said: “The Kochadhaman SHO received tip-off that foreign liquor was being brought into Bihar from West Bengal in a vehicle. Police soon launched an intensive checking of vehicles at Chardharia checkpost. A car bearing a Bihar registration number that was coming from Kishanganj side was stopped and a search led to the recovery of 264.28 litres foreign liquor. Rohit was arrested from the spot.
