Colva: Police have initiated the process to issue a ‘Blue Corner’ lookout notice against two Russian nationals for allegedly breaking into a jewellery shop at Cavelossim and decamping with cash and ornaments collectively valued at Rs 4.30 lakh.According to a complaint filed by shop owner Khursheed Ahmad Guroo, the incident occurred late on the night of April 7.The accused entered the shop by forcibly breaking open a wooden door.They then fled the premises with Rs 2.30 lakh in cash and silver ornaments worth approximately Rs 2 lakh.The theft came to light when employees working late hours noticed suspicious activity and raised an alarm.On being alerted, the accused abandoned their two-wheeler at the scene and escaped.Colva police inspector Vikram Naik said that the suspects had used a fake vehicle registration sticker over an original number plate to avoid detection.During investigation, police identified the vehicle as one rented from Morjim and traced the owner to obtain the details of the suspects.However, the exact place of their residence remains unknown.Naik said that the accused primarily communicated via WhatsApp calls, making it difficult for authorities to track and detect their movements through conventional tracking means.In view of the seriousness of the offence, police have also alerted authorities at airports and other enforcement agencies to prevent the accused from leaving the country.
