Bokaro: Authorities of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) have unveiled an around Rs 20,000 crore expansion programme, a move that is expected to generate large-scale employment opportunities, infrastructure development and increased economic activity in the district, officials said.The brownfield expansion project will enhance BSL’s crude steel output from around 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to nearly 7.5 MTPA.“As part of this major push, BSL, a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited, organised a day-long bidders’ meet, ‘Connect Pro’, drawing participation from leading domestic and international engineering firms. The event marked a significant step towards accelerating project execution and strengthening investor confidence,” said Manikant Dhan, BSL chief of communication, on Saturday.Officials said the meet involved 17 national and international players along with a consultant.Representatives of the bidders, including global technology providers and balance-of-plant package providers, made detailed presentations on various project components.The programme was inaugurated by BSL director in-charge, Priya Ranjan, in the presence of senior officials, including executive directors and chief general managers.Dhan said, “Key areas discussed during the session included the brownfield expansion works, installation of a stamp charged coke oven battery and development plans for Gua ore mines.”
