Brace for wet spell on weekend in Gurgaon

Maximum temperature is likely to drop by 3-5 degrees Celsius over the next three days

Gurgaon: After a warm and clear Thursday, IMD has issued an orange alert for Friday and Saturday, warning of rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across the city.On Thursday, the maximum temperature rose to 35.9 degrees Celsius at the Gurgaon KVK observatory.

The recorded daytime temperature was even higher at 37.8 degrees at the NorthCap University monitoring station.

This was the highest maximum temperature recorded in Haryana that day.IMD said an approaching western disturbance is likely to bring light to moderate rain at a few places in the city on Friday and Saturday, with a gradual decrease in intensity and spread. However, some areas could witness intense activity.According to experts, the weather is being driven by a cyclonic circulation over east Iran and adjoining areas, along with another upper air cyclonic circulation over southeast Pakistan and adjoining Kutch.

These combined systems are expected to draw moisture into the region, triggering stormy conditions.“An active western disturbance is expected to affect the Himalayan region from April 3. Under its influence, rain activity is set to increase over Haryana. The spell is likely to be accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, hail and gusty winds with speeds reaching 40-60 kmph during April 3 and 4,” the IMD said. While no significant change in maximum temperatures is expected over the next 24 hours, a drop of 3-5 degrees Celsius is likely over the next three days due to cloud cover and rain.Meanwhile, a day after the air quality was recorded as satisfactory, it turned poor on Thursday. The AQI reading was 215, up from 94 on Wednesday.
