Buxar MP urges CM to aid farmers after crop damage

Buxar MP Sudhakar Singh has appealed to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar for urgent aid to farmers. Recent storms and unseasonal rain between March 19-21 devastated standing Rabi crops like wheat, maize, mustard, arhar, and masoor. Thousands of farmers face immense financial and mental distress due to this widespread destruction, threatening their livelihoods.

Buxar: RJD MP from Buxar, Sudhakar Singh, on Sunday wrote to CM Nitish Kumar, seeking compensation for farmers whose Rabi crops were damaged by recent storm and rainfall across the state.In his letter, Singh said sudden weather changes between March 19 and 21 caused widespread destruction.

Standing Rabi crops such as wheat, maize, and mustard, along with pulse crops, including arhar (pigeon pea) and masoor (lentil), have been severely affected, he said.Expressing concern over the situation, the MP said thousands of farmers who had invested months of hard work are now facing serious financial and mental distress. He added the loss of mature crops is not only an economic setback, but also threatens farmers’ livelihoods. Singh has urged the state govt to form a high-level team to conduct an immediate survey of the affected areas.He called for assessment and demanded fair compensation for the losses suffered by the farmers. He expressed hope that the state govt would take prompt action and implement necessary relief measures.
