COIMBATORE: A 20-year-old female college student sustained a head injury after she jumped off a moving private bus on the Avinashi Road here on Tuesday morning.The Race Course police said the woman, a native of Tirupur, was a student of a private college near Ganapathy in Coimbatore city.
“She travels to college from Tirupur daily by bus. On Tuesday morning, she boarded a private bus to Gandhipuram from Tirupur, as usual.
She was talking to her friend, who also boarded the bus in Tirupur. The two got into a verbal spat. At one stage, their voices rose, and others on the bus intervened and pacified them,” a police officer said.However, the duo continued their heated arguments, he said. “The woman got off her seat and jumped off the moving bus near Lakshmi Mills on Avinashi Road. She sustained a head injury and blunt injuries. She was rescued and rushed to a nearby private hospital by co-passengers and motorists on Avinashi Road,” the officer said.When alerted, the Race Course police informed the woman’s parents about the incident. Police haven’t yet registered a case.
