BY- Anil JadhavAMRAVATI: In a shocking twist reminiscent of a crime thriller, a man from Madhya Pradesh believed to have been dead and cremated after a half-burnt body was discovered in Warud tehsil of Amravati has resurfaced alive, police said.The unexpected development has stunned investigators and forced them to reopen the half-burnt body case from the beginning.The incident dates back to March 29, 2026, when a partially burnt body was found in a drain in Baskheda village of Warud tehsil. Following a police alert, family of Ozulal Jagru Uike (45), a resident of Saliwada village in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul district who had been missing, approached the police.

Uike’s wife and son identified the body based on personal belongings found at the scene, including shoes, a chain, a steel tobacco box, and a ring. Believing it to be him, the family claimed the body, conducted last rites.According to cops, Uike had previously left home without informing his family on a few occasions. This time, he had been missing since around Diwali last year, and his whereabouts were unknown.However, in a dramatic turn on Saturday evening, Uike’s son informed police that his father had contacted him and returned home shortly after.

The revelation has left authorities baffled and raised questions about the body that was cremated.Cops are now investigating how Uike’s belongings were found with the deceased. Warud police, along with the local crime branch, have launched a probe. Importantly, DNA samples collected from the body before cremation, are now expected to play a crucial role.
