Criminal arrested for theft in Patliputra Colony apartment

Patna Police apprehended a notorious criminal, Mohd Junaid alias Baba, in connection with a Rs 30 lakh theft at a Patliputra Colony apartment. Recovered from his Jakkanpur hideout were weapons, ammunition, stolen jewellery, cash, and a stolen motorcycle. Junaid confessed to planning the heist with two accomplices met in jail, who are now on the run.

Patna: Patna Police arrested a notorious criminal in connection with a major theft at an apartment located on G D Mishra Path in Patliputra Colony on April 10. Thieves escaped with cash and jewellery valued about Rs30 lakh in the incident.Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Mohd Junaid alias Baba from Jakkanpur area. During interrogation, the accused led police to the recovery of two country-made pistols, eight live 7.65 mm cartridges, along with gold and silver jewellery.Junaid, who hails from Chhabilapur in Nalanda district, was living in a rented house in Jakkanpur and used to commit thefts in the city.SDPO-II (law and order) Divyanjali Jaiswal said Junaid was involved in multiple cases of theft, robbery and violations under the Arms Act registered against him at various police stations, including Rajiv Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Gardanibagh, Jakkanpur and Pataliputra in Patna, as well as Dariyapur in Saran district.“During the raid conducted after tracking the number plate of a stolen bike, SHO Patliputra police station Atulesh Kumar and inspector Vishal Kumar carried out reconnaissance for two to three days in the adjacent building of Jakkanpur before apprehending the accused. A search of his rented room led to the recovery of stolen items and weapons. From Junaid, the police recovered arms and ammunition, gold and silver jewellery, Rs30,976 in cash, luxury watches, a stolen motorcycle and lock-picking equipment,” the SDPO said on Monday.

According to the police, three people were involved in the theft at an apartment in Patliputra Colony. While Junaid has been arrested, the other two accused are still absconding and raids are being conducted to nab them.During interrogation, Junaid revealed that he met both his accomplices inside jail, where they made a plan to carry out the theft. After coming out of jail, the three first targeted a flat in Patliputra Colony and stole jewellery and cash worth several lakhs of rupees.
