Daltonganj: Eight men with criminal antecedents were arrested here in the intervening hours of Tuesday and Wednesday. The men were arrested for attacking a man and attempting to kidnap him, the police said on Wednesday.
A 9 mm pistol, a country-made gun, 15 rounds and four mobile phones were recovered from them, Palamu SP Reeshma Rameshan said.Those accused Saddam, Chotu, Suraj, Ritesh, Wasim, Wasim Akram, Roshan and Kishu are aged below 30 years.“On March 30, Saddam and his men attacked one Anand Kumar Ravi and they had planned to kidnap and eliminate him,” she said, adding that the police averted the kidnapping bid. Ravi later lodged an FIR against the eight accused.“Town police got a tip-off about Saddam and his men fleeing from Daltonganj but were held during a road-check drive,” she said. SP said, “Saddam had information that Ravi took Rs 5 lakh contract to bump him off. So, Saddam launched attacked first.” The dispute stemmed from a plot in Pahari Mohalla.
