Kavita Kaushik, who is best remembered for playing the role of Chandramukhi Chautala from FIR, opened up about the perception that female officers are often sidelined in cop dramas. She also added that she hasn’t faced such a situation while playing a cop in the show F.I.R.
The actress said that when it comes to cop dramas, she believes performance is more important than the amount of screen time.In an exclusive conversation with IANS, she spoke about the perception that female officers are not given enough chance to shine and are often kept in the background.“Personally, I have never felt sidelined in my career. I believe in making the most of the space I am given. I don’t fight for screen time, I focus on impact,” she said.Coming to Kavita Kaushik, the actress became a household name after playing the role of Chandramukhi Chautala in the television show FIR. She played the character of a female police officer and was seen as the lead heroine.In the show, the character was portrayed as confident and in control, working in a team mostly made up of male colleagues. Her Haryanvi dialect and comedy timing impressed the audience and she became a fan favourite.
On the personal front, Kavita Kaushik is married to Ronnit Biswas, and the couple has shifted from Mumbai to Goa.Apart from F.I.R., she has been part of shows like Kutumb and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, and has also appeared in reality shows such as Bigg Boss.The show first aired in 2006 till 2015.The sitcom revolved around a quirky police station and its team.On the work front, Kavita will next be seen in the upcoming OTT series Kaptaan, which also features Saqib Saleem and Abhishek Nigam.The popular sitcom FIR starred Aamir Ali, Kiku Sharda, Gopi Bhalla and Sandeep Anand.
