Gurgaon: A food delivery executive died two days after he was crushed by a speeding Mercedes in a hit-and-run accident in Faridabad’s Sector 15 early on Sunday.Anand Raj Bind, who worked with Zomato for the past couple of months, was apparently on his way to deliver an order and was riding from Sector 15 intersection towards Mathura Road around 2 am when the Mercedes (DL1CAB9919), registered to a private company, struck his bike from behind near the fire brigade office.
The impact left Bind critically injured.

Anand’s brother Shivam Kumar, who was at home about 2km away, rushed to the spot after receiving a call from a passerby and found him lying unconscious. He took Bind to Metro Hospital in Faridabad, from where he was referred to Max Hospital in Delhi. Bind succumbed to his injuries during treatment on Monday.Anand had moved to Faridabad just four months ago from Mirzapur in search of work and was living in rented accommodation in Bhatola near Chandila Chowk with his three brothers, all of whom work as delivery partners.
Their father is a farmer in their native village.

According to police, a team initially reached the scene following a PCR call, finding both the damaged motorcycle (HR55AU3022) and the abandoned Mercedes on the road.Inspector Ranvir Singh of Central police station told TOI that the Mercedes driver fled on foot, leaving the car behind with all its tyres jammed after the crash. “We have taken the vehicle into possession.
The driver will be held soon,” the officer said, adding that the body was sent for autopsy, but its report was awaited.Police said the driver was allegedly on his way to pick someone up from IGI Airport in Delhi at the time of the accident.

A case has been registered against the absconding driver under BNS sections 281 (rash driving), 106 (causing death by negligence), 125(A) (endangering human life), and 324(4) (mischief) at Central Faridabad police station.
