Panaji: The ‘Enough is Enough’ movement has given Goa govt a 15-day ultimatum to reconvene the assembly session and take up the Consolidated Land Bill. This was said by former Allahabad HC chief justice Ferdino Rebello at a public meeting in Sanguem on Saturday.
He urged the governor, Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju, to call for longer assembly sessions to address public concerns and spearhead efforts to tackle the urgent crisis of green land being converted for settlements.Rebello also called upon citizens to mobilise at Azad Maidan in Panaji in large numbers, if officials fail to pass the vital land bill. The budget assembly session was abruptly cut short and adjourned on March 16 after the Election Commission announced the Ponda by-election. However, on March 24, the Bombay high court cancelled the bypolls because the elected legislator did not serve one year in office.
