‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ isn’t another tale of explosions, action, and chase. The high-octane action film features layered storytelling and is built on a narrative of identity and illusion.

However, a simple scene from the sequel sets the tone for the protagonist’s character, which begins with a chilling hallucination. What makes this moment iconic is not just the twist in the plot, but also the facial detailing of Ranveer Singh’s look. His journey from Jaskirat Singh Rangi to Hamza Mazari isn’t just about ageing but also the skin tone, beard density, and texture, which showcase a life of violence, followed by exile and struggle.

This change was brought by Preetisheel Singh, a renowned prosthetic makeup artist. She worked thoroughly with Ranveer Singh and brought both of his characters to life. But, recently, she shared the making of the scene in which Ranveer looks like a ‘walking ghost’. It is the film’s most arresting visual, which does not have action but seconds of illusion. When Pinda, spiralling under the influence of drugs, sees a shadow of Hamza Mazari, the look feels like it’s coming straight out of a gothic fantasy or a psychological thriller.

Many fans compared his look to the character Night King from the series ‘Game of Thrones’.

Ranveer was seen carrying stark white strands with ashen skin and veins like fissures, which looked chaotic, fearless, and iconic. The execution felt like a dream, where this small detail was felt and understood by the audience. Sharing the making of this scene, the artist wrote, “When your mind grows weary, illusion paints its lies in colours you ache to believe!! Transforming Ranveer Singh into a ghost born of shadows! Dhurandhar: The Revenge.

Well, makeup alone didn’t do this job; strategic lighting and coloured backlights also played a huge role, making Hamza’s face look more hollow and a pure menace on the big screen. Ranveer’s transformation in ‘Dhurandhar 2’ isn’t just a viral moment; it signals how Bollywood’s mainstream is now approaching visual storytelling criteria, where performance with prosthetics can create an unsettling vision rather than relying on VFX spectacle.
