HYDERABAD: A man was apprehended by Hyderabad Police for manufacturing and selling adulterated ginger and garlic paste during a surprise inspection at SKR Food Products in Kattedan.
Acting on credible information, the Commissioner’s Task Force, along with the H-FAST team, found that the unit was operating under highly unhygienic conditions. The accused, identified as Hasan Ali Rupani, was allegedly using low-quality raw materials, garlic peels and additives such as acetic acid and xanthan gum in the production process.
The paste was stored in open containers exposed to contaminants, and no proper food safety certifications were available.
Authorities seized more than 4,000 kilograms of ginger-garlic paste, along with 6210 kg of inferior raw materials, chemicals and machinery, with a total estimated value of Rs 22 lakh. The products were reportedly supplied to wholesale stores, restaurants and catering services across the city.
