“I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.”
The message continued, “I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”
The incident that led to this moment occurred on a Friday afternoon in Florida. Authorities say Woods collided with a trailer while driving at speed, later admitting he had glanced down at his phone and radio. Deputies noted signs of impairment at the scene, including “bloodshot and glassy” eyes and slow movements. Two hydrocodone pills were found in his pocket. While he registered no alcohol on a breath test, he declined to provide a urine sample.
