After its theatrical release in December 2025, ‘Kombuseevi,’ starring Sarath Kumar and Shanmuga Pandian is all set for an OTT premiere. Directed by Ponram, the film will be available to stream on Prime Video, giving audiences nationwide the chance to watch the rural action-comedy drama from the comfort of their homes.

The OTT release is a result of the movie’s borderline negative performance at the box office, but it has received well-received nostalgic nods to the 90s and its star cast.

Where to watch ‘Kombuseevi’

Fans can now stream ‘Kombuseevi’ on Prime Video. While there were earlier reports of Tentkotta possibly acquiring streaming rights, the official confirmation has come through Prime Video. The OTT release enables the audience to experience the fun, thrill, and sentiments of uncle Sarath Kumar and son-in-law Shanmuga Pandian.

The film with its nostalgia, village setting, and Ponram’s trademark treatment will appeal to its patrons with the OTT release.

‘Kombuseevi’ storyline and setting

‘Kombuseevi’ takes place in the 1990s in Theni and mainly centers on two men, Rokkapuli (Sarathkumar) and Pandi (Shanmugha Pandian), who must move away from the 12 villages that are part of the dam’s construction. These friends find themselves dealing with violent crimes and marijuana trade as a source of income.

While they also help other displaced villagers, they are in constant clashes with the law. In addition to the action, this film also brings humorous scenes between the uncle and the son-in-law and shows some drama, depicting their commitment to defending their village.

The piercing emotion, along with the clever writing, is why Ponram’s storytelling is so loved.

‘Kombuseevi’ cast and crew

The film features a strong supporting cast, including Kaali Venkat, Kalki Raja, Tharnika, Anaira Gupta, George Maryan, and Munishkanth. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music, while Balasubramaniem handled cinematography, Dinesh Ponnuraj handled editing, and Phoenix Prabhu and Saravana Sakthi choreographed the action sequences. ‘Kombuseevi’ marks the first collaboration of Ponram with Sarath Kumar and Shanmuga Pandian, bringing together the director’s signature rural comedy style with a high-energy action narrative.
