Major accident averted at metro site, trapped worker rescued

Patna: A major accident was averted during construction work at the Bhootnath Metro Station here on Friday evening after a worker got trapped between a heavy concrete slab and a crane while positioning the structure.The incident occurred around 6pm when a large slab was being lowered using a crane at the site. The worker, identified as Satish Kumar, a resident of Siwan district and employed on the Patna Metro Rail project, was standing below when he suddenly got stuck between the machinery and the slab, triggering panic among workers at the site.With the help of fellow workers and local residents, Kumar was rescued after a strenuous operation.Confirming the incident, Patna Metro Rail Corporation spokesperson Archana Khushi said the worker got trapped between the girder and the crane, after climbing down from the crane. “Taking all precautions, he was successfully rescued by the team. He did not suffer any injury,” she said.As a precautionary measure, Kumar was admitted to a local hospital, where he underwent an MRI and other medical tests, and is currently under observation, she added.
