Mapusa temple dispute turns violent, 5 injured

Mapusa: A dispute over registration and legitimacy of temple trust of Shree Simeshwar Rashtroli Brahmin Sati Dev Gramastha Devasthan in Acoi, Mapusa, turned violent late on Wednesday, leaving at least five people injured.Police said the clash erupted when one group attempted to install CCTV cameras on the temple premises, drawing fierce objections from a rival faction that has challenged their authority for the past two years. The heated argument between the two groups quickly escalated into a physical scuffle and assault, police said.Two men and three women who were injured are undergoing treatment at GMC.Heavy police deployment has been stationed at the temple to prevent further flare-ups and maintain law and order.
