Miyanpur village in Kheri to be renamed as Ravindra Nagar: Yogi

Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday announced that Miyanpur village in Lakhimpur district would be renamed as Ravindra Nagar after Rabindranath Tagore. He blamed the Congress for having named the village Miyanpur even though “not a single Miyan lived there”, only to hide the fact that Hindu families displaced from Bangladesh were living there.“We have provided land rights to 1,000 families who came from Bangladesh in 1947 and 1971. Bangladesh rejected these people and seized their land and ancestral property. But even after the tragedy, Congress did not give rights to those who came here. Their votes were taken, but ownership rights were never given to them,” he said to the largely Bengali community.Speaking at an event to give land rights to 331 displaced Hindu families, Yogi said the partition of India caused the greatest suffering to Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian communities, for which Pakistan would break into further pieces.

However, he added. Congress, Samajwadi Party and TMC only practiced appeasement politics and did nothing for the displaced persons. The CM also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 213 development projects worth Rs 417 crore for three assembly constituencies and distributed cheques to beneficiaries. He promised that govt would give ownership rights to all displaced families residing in Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit, Rampur and Bijnor.

“Whether it was 1947 or 1971, religious fanaticism shattered the dreams of Hindus and Sikhs. When Bangladesh was formed, genocide of Hindus took place. Neither Congress, SP or TMC speak up as the appeasement politics they have been practicing might pose a threat to their existence,” he said.Crediting PM Narendra Modi for his resolve of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, because of which people were getting ownership rights in India, the CM said that persecuted Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains in Bangladesh look towards India with hope and trust.

Assuring them that India will stand with them, he said that India embraced those who came irrespective of their caste, sect or faith.Calling the 1947 partition a result of divisions in society, Yogi said those who divide society on the basis of caste, faith and sect betray the nation and future generations. He said that initially, 1,031 families had settled in UP, whose numbers had now grown to more than 5,000 families, but they had not received land rights till now. When PM Modi got the

Citizenship Amendment Act

passed, Congress and SP opposed it as they were not in favour of giving rights to Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist and Jain communities, he said, adding that when the country celebrates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, SP glorifies Jinnah.“As part of their well-planned approach to divide society, SP, Congress and TMC had opposed the Citizenship Amendment Bill. Protests were held for months in Delhi, but Modiji neither retreated nor wavered. It is because of that resolve that today we are providing you these rights certificates. Now no one can deprive or displace you. Now you will be recognized not as Bangladeshis, but as Bangla-speaking citizens of India,” he said.
