Prayagraj: State govt plans to set up 120 new milk cooperative societies in the Prayagraj division under the Nand Baba Milk Cooperative Mission, aiming to increase the earnings of farmers engaged in dairy and promote the rearing of indigenous cattle breeds.General manager of the Prayagraj Milk Cooperative Union, Manish Kumar Chaudhary, said: “As many as 120 new milk cooperative societies are being set up in the division in the current financial year, including 50 in Prayagraj district. Approximately 5,000 farmers and cattle rearers are linked to these societies. The societies will purchase their milk and provide it to the union.” The societies are set up in villages by the Prayagraj Milk Cooperative Union. Approximately 293 societies are active in the division, and the new ones will increase the income of milk-producing farmers while ensuring the supply of pure milk to the common man. These societies provide 8,000 litres of milk daily in Prayagraj, up from only 3,000 litres previously.
