Jannik Sinner just had one of the best runs of his career. He won back to back titles at Indian Wells and the Miami Open. But right after those wins, the talk shifted in a surprising direction.
It was not about his shots or his ranking. It was about what he was wearing on court.Former doubles World No. 1 Rennae Stubbs, who also coached Serena Williams during her final US Open in 2022, shared a strong opinion. Speaking on The Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast, she directly called out Nike. Her message was simple and very clear. She believes Sinner should stick to one color going forward.
Serena Williams former coach Rennae Stubbs tells Nike to avoid chartreuse outfits for Jannik Sinner after Sunshine Double wins
Rennae Stubbs did not hold back when she spoke about Jannik Sinner’s outfits. She said Nike should stop using the chartreuse color for him. In her words,“Let me tell you something Nike. Stick with the pink, stick with that color.
Do not put Jannik Sinner in chartreuse ever again for the rest of his life, because clearly that is not his color. He just did not play well in that color, and I think you need to keep the pinks or the reds or black but no more chartreuse for Jannik Sinner.”Her comment came after a clear pattern. At the Australian Open and the Qatar Open, Sinner wore the yellow green outfit. He lost in the semifinals in Melbourne to Novak Djokovic.
Then in Doha, he exited in the quarterfinals against Jakub Mensik. But things changed when he switched to light pink. During Indian Wells and Miami, he looked sharp and confident. He went on to win both titles, completing the Sunshine Double. That made people notice the difference even more. After winning in Miami, Sinner himself stayed calm and focused. He said,“For me, now the most important thing is to recover and enjoy this moment.
I don’t have a lot of time to adjust, playing on clay, if I want to play Monaco. I have always been someone who thinks in a very present moment. I don’t look in front, but I also don’t look backwards. Whatever comes, comes.”Now, his focus moves to the clay season. Last year, he played only two clay events due to suspension, the Italian Open and Roland Garros. He reached the finals in both but lost to Carlos Alcaraz. This time, with strong form and confidence, the next phase will be important.
