New Delhi: A dry fruit businessman and his daughter were grievously injured after a speeding car allegedly rammed into them in west Delhi’s Tilak Nagar. CCTV footage of the incident, showing a vehicle being driven recklessly in a narrow lane and hitting the duo, surfaced on social media on Sunday.The incident was reported on April 5, when the 39-year-old man, who owns a dry fruit shop in Tilak Nagar market, was on his way to the gurdwara with his daughter around 10.30 am.The duo reached the intersection near a school in Mukherjee park area when a purple vehicle allegedly approached at high speed, struck his shoulder and sped away. Following the collision, he fell to the ground and his wife rushed him to the hospital.
The complainant managed to memorise the number plate of the car and informed the cops of the same.The CCTV footage, which began circulating on social media, captured a collision in a narrow residential lane bordered by houses and parked cars. The father and daughter were seen walking together through the passage and were about to turn left when a car travelling at a high rate of speed struck them.As the car hit them, the father was seen holding his daughter and moving her to the side, away from the vehicle’s path, just as he was thrown across the pavement. The daughter was also knocked to the ground by the momentum. The vehicle continued forward and sped away from the scene.A case was registered at Tilak Nagar police station.
