So much so that the former Teen Mom star called her daughter “the strongest little human ever.”

Taylor Selfridge’s daughter’s medical emergency: What happened?

In an Instagram post shared on April 11, Taylor revealed that what started off as a minor stomach bug spun out into something way more serious, and she had to act fast. Maya’s condition got so bad that she needed to be airlifted from Amarillo to Fort Worth. Eighteen days in the hospital, endless tests and treatments, and finally, they got to head home.

Taylor posted photos of Maya playing games, sipping on a milkshake, and even celebrating Easter inside her hospital room at Cook Children’s Medical Center.Taylor’s post included photos showing Maya and her mom celebrating Easter, drinking a milkshake, and playing some games inside the hospital room.In Selfridge’s words, “18 days in the hospital and we’re finally home. What started off as thinking it was a stomach bug turned into something so much bigger.

My baby is a fighter, the strongest little human ever. She’s still healing, but we are finally back in California. It’s a lot to unpack and I will but for now just grateful I was able to bring my baby home. Thank you, Cook Children’s CICU in Fort Worth, TX for saving my babies life.

And thank you god.”Taylor’s relief was clear. She shared that Maya is still healing and recovering. The ‘Teen Mom’ alum also revealed that she hasn’t fully processed everything yet, but right now, she’s just grateful to have her daughter back home in California. As for Maya, whom Taylor shares with fellow Teen Mom alum Cory Wharton, she has been through a lot. She was born in June 2022 with tricuspid atresia, which is a rare, serious heart defect. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the defect occurs when the tricuspid valve in the heart fails to form, necessitating surgery and other procedures. Maya has been through constant care since she was born three years ago.Selfridge first shared Maya’s hospital update after fans noticed her lack of usual Snapchat presence. In her initial announcement about Maya’s hospitalization, Selfridge wrote, “16 days in the hospital…this is the longest stay/most stressful one we’ve ever had, and that’s saying a lot,” adding, “She’s getting much better hoping to get out of here soon 🤍. It’s a long story and I’ll give you guys an update when we get back home.

On April 10, Maya was officially on her way home after being “life-flighted” to the hospital. Taylor posted a few photos of Maya leaving the hospital, including her first stop at the Rainforest Cafe.In the caption, the mother of two explained, “We actually are not home yet. So this is part of the long story, but we are still in Texas,” adding, “We got life-flighted out of Amarillo so that’s part of the long story. So we fly back to California tomorrow.

I’m not joking when I say it was insane.”However, this is not the first time Maya has faced serious health challenges. She was previously hospitalized for 13 days for an open-heart procedure in October 2025. “Maya had her final open heart surgery called the Fontan. Before the Fontan her blood was mixing oxygenated blood and non-oxygenated blood, which caused her to have low oxygen to her lungs,” Taylor had shared back then.
