COIMBATORE: TVK candidate for Coimbatore South assembly constituency V Senthil Kumar filed his nomination before returning officer T Kumaresan at the city corporation’s central zonal office here on Thursday. Assuring to fulfil all the basic facilities of the South Constituency, Senthil said, “The constituency has many goldsmiths, and we are committed to improving their livelihoods. We will work to reduce the electricity tariff that has been hiked in the past years, repair all damaged roads with proper drainage facilities and ensure top-quality infrastructure.” He emphasised that TVK would secure victory in the constituency by a margin of 50,000 votes. Before submitting his nomination, Senthil garlanded a bronze statue of late chief minister C N Annadurai on the Avinashi Road. There are the statues of late chief ministers M G Ramachandran, and J Jayalalitha adjacent to Annadurai’s statue on the Avinashi Road. All the three statues were installed by AIADMK in 2017. But Senthil chose to garland only the statue of Annadurai. When asked why he did not garland the other statues, Senthil said, “I did not have much time left before the nomination.
So, I had to offer a garland to only one person.”Senthil’s wife has been nominated as a backup candidate of the party in the same constituency.
