Earlier on Saturday, Vijay met chief electoral officer Archana Patnaik at the state secretariat and submitted a representation seeking clearance for campaign events in Perambur and other parts of the state. In the petition, he complained that officials were denying permissions in favour of the ruling party and urged the Election Commission to intervene to ensure a level playing field.

The clearance for the Perambur rally comes after officials had earlier denied permission citing space constraints and procedural issues.Ahead of the campaign launch, TVK will organise an event at a private hotel in Nungambakkam on Sunday, where Vijay is expected to announce and introduce candidates for all 234 assembly constituencies.
