Hulk Hogan has always been one of the most important figures in professional wrestling. The WWE legend and Hall of Famer was one of the earliest wrestlers as Vince McMahon envisioned a professional wrestling company that now became WWE.
Nearly a year after his passing, the Netflix docuseries pulls viewers into a quieter side of the man behind the persona.There is no roaring crowd here. Just Terry Bollea, looking back at his life. The footage feels almost unfinished, as if the story itself was still being written when the cameras stopped rolling.

In Hulk Hogan: Real American, Hulk Hogan opens up in what would become his final recorded interview. His words, simple and unguarded, set the tone early.
“I can’t predict what the final act of the story is gonna be,” he says. “But the legend of Hulk Hogan will live forever.”Hogan does not try to tidy up his legacy. Instead, he leans into the contradictions. “Some people hate me, but after I’m gone, I think people don’t know the truth,” he admits. “Who was this guy really? I really was here for a reason more than just wrestling.”

There is even a moment of blunt honesty that stands out. “You want me to tell the truth? Okay.
I know where all the bodies are buried.” He also reflects on the split between his public image and private self. “Terry Bollea was just a human being, but when I went in that ring, brother, I was Hulk Hogan,” he says. “The character helps people, that’s all I know.”The documentary does not shy away from the harder parts either. Hogan acknowledges past mistakes in a tone that feels less defensive than before. “I was out partying.
Maybe I was drunk, maybe I was high. I don’t know what to tell you,” he says, before adding, “There are millions of kids that believed in me and what I stand for.”

Alongside those confessions, the trailer shifts into something softer. Old home videos show Hogan with his children, Brooke and Nick, long before the complications that later defined their relationships. In those clips, he seems at ease.“Life was so clear,” he says while watching those moments. Then comes the question that quietly lingers. “Where did that life go?”The docuseries also brings in voices from his past, including his ex-wife Linda Hogan. “We didn’t speak to each other anymore, but I realized, ‘I still love him,’” she says, offering a glimpse into a bond that never fully disappeared.
