Woman who hurled racial slurs at Arunachal troupe at Patna Junction is mentally unstable: RPF

Patna: The woman seen in a viral video purportedly hurling racial slurs at members of a cultural dance troupe from Arunachal Pradesh at Patna Junction is mentally unstable, the Railway Police Force (RPF) has said.The incident occurred on April 2 when members of the visiting troupe attempted to use the washroom facility. According to the group, a woman passenger blocked their entry and demanded identification. When they questioned her, the argument escalated and she allegedly used racial slurs against them.Rajesh Kumar Sinha, SHO of RPF at Patna Junction, said a team was immediately sent to the spot after information about the argument was received.

He said the woman involved in the incident suffers from mental disorder.“What is being seen in the video circulating on social media is her behaviour due to her mental condition,” Sinha said. He no formal written complaint mentioning racial slurs has been received so far.The video clip triggered widespread anger and debate one social media. Several people from Patna have apologised online, saying such behaviour harms the city’s reputation.

Meanwhile, East Central Railway (ECR) has condemned the alleged incidentIn an official statement issued on Saturday, the ECR appealed to passengers to maintain decorum. “Refrain from making any incorrect remarks, including those related to religion, caste, sect or the like, against any passenger. This is indecent and punishable,” the statement said.
