WWE SmackDown Results & Highlights: Randy Orton snaps, Hall of Famers reunite for title match, New champions, and more

WWE SmackDown aired the March 20 episode of the show from the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. The show featured three major title matches, Randy Orton saying that he needed to become a killer to beat Cody Rhodes, and Jade Cargill revealing former rivals Michin and B-Fab as her new allies.

Moreover, Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu’s tensions were on a all-time high, and Jelly Roll’s poetry battle with Kit Wilson also took place.

What happened in the opening segment of WWE SmackDown?

The show opened with a visual of Drew McIntyre T-boning his car straight into Jacob Fatu’s vehicle and then attacking. The fight had to be stopped by the officials. GM Nick Aldis canceled their scheduled match, and Fatu came back to the arena to continue the brawl.

Damian Priest & R-Truth vs. MFTs

This match was for the WWE Tag Team Championships. Both sides displayed an exceptional tag team bout until Uncle Howdy and his Wyatt Sicks came to stop the other MFTs from interfering.

The chaos led R-Truth to hit an Attitude Adjustment on Tama Tonga to pick up the win. In the process, he and Damian Priest became the new WWE Tag Team Champions.

Motor City Machine Guns vs. Fraxiom

This was a tag team match between the MCMG (Alex Shelly and Chris Sabin) and Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer and Axiom. The high-octane action was a good match on the show. However, the unexpected end saw Candice LeRae providing interference, allowing MCMG to pick up the win over their opponents.

Sami Zayn vs. Aleister Black

Trick Williams sat ringside to watch the match between Sami Zayn and Aleister Black. It was an exciting showdown to witness despite its short duration. The final moments saw Williams throw a drink as Zayn’s back was turned. He attacked Williams; however, Zayn ate a Black Mass from Aleister as he got into the ring and lost the match.

Carmelo Hayes vs. Ilja Dragunov

GM Nick Aldis informed Carmelo Hayes that he will defend his WWE United States title against Ilja Dragunov.

It was arguably, one of the most captivating matches of the night that attracted loud cheers from the audience and even ‘This is Awesome’ chants. The exciting showdown that saw both men leave everything in the ring concluded when Hayes hit the final First 48 on Dragunov to win and retain his title.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match

The Bella Twins challenged Nia Jax and Lash Legend for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss sat ringside to watch the action. The match ended in a Disqualification after Flair struck Jax following an altercation.
